Creating Compatible Couples

eHarmony is all about digging deeper and matching couples based on their inner values to help them find true love.  eHarmony is  an online dating service that matches up couples based on their results from a proprietary personality test. eHarmony aims to generate long-term relationships from its service and it argues that the only way to do this is to bring people together who will get along, and the best way to determine that is through an eHarmony compatibility test. This advanced matchmaking service is intended to take a lot of the guesswork out of the dating game and to provide more serious partner recommendations which helps users to ultimately get married.

Overview

eHarmony launched on August 22, 2000 and is headquartered out of Santa Monica, California. As of 2009, eHarmony touted over 37 million registered users and 750,000 active users within its online community. eHarmony’s members represent over 150 different countries and the organization has satellite offices out of Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada and Brazil. Neil Clark Warren, a relationship expert, founded eHarmony after years of research on the theory that couples are more successful when they have personality traits that are deemed compatible. Warren’s research is the basis of eHarmony’s compatibility algorithm and testing system today.

Package/ Features

eHarmony offers its users an in-depth profile, value assessment, compatibility tests and communication tools to connect to other members. The site is considered the “Most Trusted Online Dating Site” since it validates a lot of the information that users input, and most online review of the site are positive. The site also has some additional services that are unique including ProfileAdvisor (professional writers who can improve one’s profile), SecureCall (talk with other members anonymously), RelyID (background checking service) and a Premium Personality Profile (expanded profile to help users stand our from the crowd). eHarmony often runs promotions like their “Free Communication Weekends” where users can try to find that special person, and can start chatting with other users for free.

How It Works

eHarmony is different from most other online dating sites in that its users need to put quite a bit of work into it in order to start using its service, but the end result is well-worth the initial effort. That is, the profile setup and initial interview questions are quite lengthy; however the outcome should lead to more compatible and informed matches. New users to eHarmony will be guided through a profile setup. Most of this process consists of multiple choice questions and description fields that the user will complete. Information in this part ranges form general information (i.e. sex, birthdate, education, etc.) to important qualities, personal interests, communication styles and more. Beyond this information, eHarmony offers a section where users can describe themselves and what they want in their own words. eHarmony also walks users through a third section that assesses their values (i.e. “must haves” and “can’t stands”). Once setup, users will receive some match recommendations and they will have the chance to communicate with other singles.

Testimonials

Thousands of happy couples are thankful for the services that eHarmony provides. The site hosts many testimonials about how they nearly gave up on love or were able to find their soul mate even though they are trying to raise kids. eHarmony hosts these first-hand accounts and more at:http://www.eharmony.com/success/

Pricing

eHarmony is similar to other dating sites in that its rate schedule is based on the number of months that a user purchases at a time. For example, a single month’s membership runs $59.95. If one purchases three months at a time, the rate drops to $39.95 per month. When they purchase six months at a time, the rate is $29.95 per month. Finally, for users who purchase a year’s worth of service, the monthly rate breaks down to $19.95 per month.

Registration

Users can sign up for eHarmony by completing their profile. The site also offers a much faster registration for those who register using their Facebook account. This is because eHarmony can import much of the information that is stored on one’s Facebook account in order to answer many of the profile questions.

Customer Support

eHarmony offers email customer support and a large knowledge base so users can search for their answers themselves. Additionally, users can post questions to the eHarmony forum and representatives from the company will reply.

eharmony has a different approach to dating where they ask you a lot of questions but then genuinely try to find the right person for you. I'd say its more for the serious dater, so if you honestly want to meet your match then they can probably help you out.
